                  to pray for you."

- WEEKLY PRAYER INTENTIONS -

Who do you pray for? What do you pray for? There are so many intentions worthy of our prayers that it can be difficult simply to remember them all. Then there are those needs of the Church and of the world that should find their home in the regular prayer life of every Catholic.

As a guide to whom and what we might pray for, weekly prayer intentions could be helpful. Does this mean, for example, that I should pray for the Holy Souls only on Sundays? No, certainly not. What it does mean though is that by dedicating one day each week to something specific we are encouraged to prayerfully remember the intentions dear to us and those that are central to the mission of the Church.

For example:

Sunday – For Unity of Christians & for World Peace.
                  (God the Holy Spirit)*

Monday – For Priests & those Consecrated, & for more Vocations.
                    (St. Peter)**

Tuesday – For a Culture of Life. (God the Father)

Wednesday – For the people through whom God has blessed me.
                         (St. Joseph)

Thursday – For those who do not know God or do not adore Him.
                     (St. Paul)

Friday – For the Suffering & the Dying, & for the Holy Souls.
                 (God the Son)

Saturday – In honour of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
                     (Blessed Virgin Mary)

It is very important, while praying for all those in need, to bring my local, personal situation into the scene (e.g., to pray especially for a Culture of Life in my diocese; to recall those I know who are suffering).

* Certain days and intentions can be fittingly recalled to the glory of a particular Person of the Blessed Trinity.

** The principal saints in the history of our salvation have been carefully matched with specific intentions .
